National Blood Donor Month is January.

National Blood Donor Month in January has been observed since 1970 to honor blood donors and encourage others to donate during the increasingly difficult winter months.

BBD operates five permanent donor centers and more than 30 mobile donation locations. Individuals who are ages 17 and older, weigh 110 pounds or more and have good health can safely donate blood every 56 days. Platelets can be donated every two weeks up to 24 times per year.

Those who donate blood before Jan. 31 will be eligible to win a 60-inch flat-screen TV.
