The City of Lewes and Lewes In Bloom will host its annual tulip dig from 9 a.m. to noon April 25 at various locations in Lewes.

The City of Lewes and Lewes In Bloom will host its annual tulip dig from 9 a.m. to noon April 25 at various locations in Lewes.

Volunteers are invited to bring shovels, spades, trowels and bags to assist with removing the tulip bulbs. Volunteers may take home the bulbs they dig up. Close to 15,000 tulip bulbs were planted by Lewes In Bloom for the seventh annual Lewes Tulip Festival.

Areas included in the dig are the 1812 Memorial Park, Citizens Bank on Second Street, City Hall, Canalfront Park, Lewes Firehouse, Dogfish Inn, Gateway garden on Freeman Highway, Mary Vessels Park, Otis Smith Park, the Lewes Post Office, Stango Park, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church barrels and Zwaanendael Park.

In case of inclement weather, the tulip dig will be moved to April 26.
