Devontae L. Massey is wanted for assaults on July 6 and July 27
Delaware State Police are looking for fugitive Devontae L. Massey in connection with an early July robbery.
The assault took place at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 near the Five Points Liquor Store on Seaford Road, Laurel, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.
The man had just left the store when he was approached by a second man, later identified as Massey, who asked for a cigarette. After walking a little further, Massey asked the victim for a dollar; as the victim was pulling out his wallet, Massey grabbed at the wallet, starting a short struggle and chase back toward Five Points.
Massy last was seen running toward the Ram Deli before the victim lost sight of him.
The victim was not hurt, Fournier said.
The 24-year-old Massey, who lives in Laurel, was developed as a witness through various tips and investigative means, including use of surveillance video.
He will be charged with second-degree robbery and theft of property under $1,500 for the July 6 incident, Fournier said. Massey also is wanted in connection with a 4 a.m. July 27 assault at the Greenwood Inn, where he allegedly attacked a 29-year-old woman in the motel parking lot.
Massey successfully fled before police arrived, Fournier said.
