William J. Rodenbaugh and Jaimie O'Connor were arrested Aug. 10 and July 26.

Delaware State Police have arrested a Rehoboth man and woman following a five month investigation into a series of thefts from vehicles along the Del. Route 1 corridor in Sussex County.

Beginning in March, troopers had received numerous reports of thefts from the Nassau Bridge south to the Canal Bridge, as well as in the Angola area. Stolen items included iPods, jewelry and loose change which had been left laying in plain view in unlocked vehicles, said division spokesman Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale.

Through their investigations, detectives identified William J. Rodenbaugh, 23, and Jaimie O’Connor as the suspects.

O’Connor, 31, was arrested July 26 and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree conspiracy, two counts of theft, two counts of falsifying business records and two counts of selling stolen property. She later was released on a $6,000 unsecured bail.

On Aug. 10, detectives arrested Rodenbaugh who now faces 127 criminal charges including burglary, conspiracy and theft. He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $555,050 cash bond.

Hale said the case still is ongoing and that detectives have items including knives, purses, gift cards, jewelry, and binoculars which have yet to be claimed.

Anyone who may have had items stolen from their vehicles along the Route 1 corridor is asked to contact Det. Kristunas at 302-752-3856 or Det. Mills at 302-752-3800 to set up an appointment to view the property.
