The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire in the Long Neck area of Millsboro that caused severe damage to several storage structures and vehicles.
A fire was reported on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 6:47 p.m. in the 31000 block of Eagle Lane, located off of John J. Williams Highway. Firefighters arrived at 6:50 p.m. to find fire showing in several storage buildings and vehicles. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, assisted by the Millsboro, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Companies, extinguished the blaze and placed it under control at 7:16 p.m. The responding units cleared the scene at 8:52 p.m. Damages are estimated at approximately $25,000.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating and has determined the fire was criminal in nature, caused by arson. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office at (302) 856-5600.
