Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of an Ellendale-area store that occurred Sunday evening.

A preliminary investigation determined the incident occurred at about 7:43 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, when a male suspect armed with an unknown type of handgun entered the Ellendale Dollar General store at 18036 Beach Highway. He approached the store employee and demanded cash before jumping over the counter and grabbing an undisclosed amount himself. The suspect then exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect was described as a male wearing dark clothing with his face covered.
