Sabo replaces Ken Rivera for five-year term

Wilmington resident Ashley Sabo beat out two opponents to serve on the Red Clay Consolidated School District’s board of school directors for District C.

According to the unofficial results from the New Castle County Board of Elections, Sabo defeated opponents Tom Pappenhagen and Henry Clampitt 1,142 votes to 152 and 833 respectively, or 52.69 percent of the vote versus Clampitt’s 39.16 percent and Pappenhagen’s 7.15 percent.

Sabo ran on a platform of district transparency and accountability, school choice, and evaluation of educators.

Prior to the election, Sabo served as PTA president for three years and was co-chair for the inclusion committee.

She was also a member of the Red Clay Parent Advisory Council, and currently a member of the Red Clay Special Needs Parent Council.

The seat was left open after incumbent Kenneth Rivera did not file for reelection.

The five-year term expires June 22, 2022.
