Author Laura Malone Elliott visited Sussex Academy middle school students to talk about historical fiction and the role research plays in writing.

She spent time with the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders to explain the process she uses to write her young adult novels and then answered questions from the students.

After the large group presentation Elliott visited with the Everest Team, which is currently reading her Renaissance-based novel “Da Vinci's Tiger.” Meeting with the students in small groups, she explained the characters and how she found information on each one. Elliott also answered questions the students had in regards to combining historical fact and fiction.

Elliott was visiting Delaware to participate in the inaugural Lewes Book Festival.
