Victim suffered serious hand laceration

Delaware State Police have arrested a Bridgeville man after he assaulted a victim with a machete.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 7, at around 11:45 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for a report of an assault.  Further investigation revealed that the victim, a 55-year-old Bridgeville male, was assaulted while he was at his friend's residence in the 17000 block of Redden Road. The suspect, identified as 65-year-old Augustas Bailey, entered the residence and began threatening to kill the victim. Bailey went after the victim with a machete, and while trying to defend himself, the victim suffered a serious laceration to his right hand.  

The victim was later transported to the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, Maryland, for treatment.

Troopers responded to Bailey's residence, in the 17000 block of Goose Bay Lane, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endanger and terroristic threatening. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $106,000 secured bond.
