The inaugural Bethany Beach First Responders Sports Weekend, which is including the sixth annual Bethany Beach First Responders Triathlon-Duathlon-Aquabike, is planned for Sept. 22-23, featuring Bethany Beach’s first Half Marathon.
The events are presented by Focus Multisports. In addition to the new half-marathon event, this year’s offering will be expanded to include new courses, two-person half marathon relay teams, free first-timers clinic for triathletes, finishing medals, awards and after-parties hosted and sponsored by Grotto Pizza.
“We have amped up our features, like our 3D course map, and swag, like our event keepsakes and medals. Plus, with Focus Multisports, participants are sure to appreciate our high level of professionalism and organization within a party-like atmosphere.” said race producer and co-founder Rick Hundley.
Registration for the half marathon, triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, 5K and relay races are open at racebethanybeach.com.
“We are thrilled to bring the Sports Weekend to Bethany Beach, where all of this started back in 2012,” said race producer and co-founder Ernie Felici. “The triathlon will begin on Sea Colony’s Beach with a course that encompasses Bethany Beach, North Bethany, Delaware Seashore State Park and South Bethany with a festive Boardwalk Finish and after-party sponsored by Grotto Pizza serving a buffet including Michelob Ultra and Shock Top beers. We are therefore thrilled to give back to the firefighters and other first responders who support the host towns.”
The weekend-long series of events includes the USA Triathlon Mid Atlantic Championship Triathlon sanctioned event, produced by Focus Multisports, in partnership with Racine Multisports and J&A Racing.
