30-year-old George A. Bailey III arrested
Delaware State Police have made an arrest in a Long Neck area homicide.
The investigation began on Saturday, October 20, at 10:30 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to the 26000 block of Schooner Lane, in the Rehoboth Shores development, to check on the welfare of 69-year-old Lorraine Bradley. Bradley had not been heard from in about a week and her vehicle was missing from the residence.
Bradley was found in a bedroom, deceased. The residence appeared to have been gone through and some items were thrown around, however, there was no obvious sign of forced entry.
The victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy was performed and the cause of death was determined to be manual strangulation. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Through investigative measures, troopers identified the victim’s grandson, 30-year-old George A. Bailey III, as a suspect. Bailey was located at the Greenwood Inn at 12036 Sussex Highway and taken into custody for violation of probation.
On Monday, October 22, Bailey was charged with first-degree murder and theft of a motor vehicle. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,002,000 cash-only bond.
