Under-construction Carillon Woods Apartments blaze under invesitgation
UPDATE: The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is seeking the public’s assistance with a November 8, 2018 fire that occurred in the 34000 block of Harvard Avenue in Millsboro, at the Carillon Woods Apartments construction site.
The investigation has revealed that this fire was intentionally set and is considered a criminal act of arson. Damage to the structure is listed at $1.5 million. Due to the ongoing investigation, further details are being withheld.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity during the above date and time to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Sussex County Division at (302) 856-5600, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847- 3333.
The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a Thursday night fire that burned through an apartment building under construction in Millsboro.
The blaze, reported shortly after 9 p.m., occurred at the Carillon Woods apartment complex in the 34000 block of Harvard Avenue, near the intersection of Routes 24 and 5 in the Long Neck area. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene to find flames shooting from the four-story building.
The building was being built to house 30 units and fire damage is estimated to exceed $1.5 million. There were no reported injuries.
The fire marshal's office is working to determine the fire's origin and cause.
