The Delaware Department of Transportation announced that Scott Walls, a project manager with the Bridge Design section, was named the Delaware Engineering Society’s 2019 Young Engineer of the Year.
Walls began his career at DelDOT in 2012 as a project engineer in the Bridge Design group and has been the lead designer for numerous replacement and rehabilitation projects designing with steel and concrete. In his current position as supervising engineer, Walls leads a small group of engineers and consultants from project initiation through project completion.
The Lewes resident was born and raised in Dover, graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 2007 and earned his Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 2011, followed by his master’s in civil engineering from the University of Delaware in 2018. He has been a registered professional engineer in Delaware since 2016. Along with his colleagues, Walls developed and manages a science, technology, engineering and math outreach program to support students learning STEM concepts throughout the state.
