The Rehoboth Beach Museum, 511 Rehoboth Ave., will host presenter Mike Dixon’s “Voters at Last: Battling for the Ballot,” recounting the history of the expansion of suffrage in the U.S., at 2 p.m. March 23.

There was a period in the country's past when voting rights were reserved primarily for white male property owners. But during a fight, the rights of the ballot were extended regardless of property ownership, race or sex. This program presents the history of the expansion of suffrage as it lays out arguments made by both sides in the debated subject.

Particular attention will be paid to women’s suffrage, in recognition of the upcoming anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment. Dixon will discuss a time when Delaware was on the front line of the controversial debate. This program is funded by the Delaware Humanities Forum.

The program is free for members, while a $5 donation is suggested for nonmembers. Reservations are required to 227-7310.
