Six others displaced
The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that occurred on Wednesday, May 1, in Seaford. A home was seriously damaged and one person was found deceased inside.
The blaze, reported around 8 p.m., occurred in the 400 block of North Arch Street. The Seaford Fire Company was in charge of fire suppression efforts, with assistance from multiple other local companies.
Heavy fire damage to the home was estimated at $75,000. The American Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to six adults that were displaced by the fire.
The Division of Forensic Science took custody of the deceased victim from the scene and will conduct an autopsy. A positive identification will be necessary prior to releasing the victim’s name, age and sex.
Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s are searching for the fire’s origin and cause. This incidentremains under investigation.
