Heidi Lowe Gallery, 328 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, will host a happy hour opening of “Ways of Untangling,” a solo exhibition by Lewes-based artist Kaitlyn L. Evans, from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 2.
Evans is a recipient of a 2019 Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship Award as an Emerging Craft Artist.
Forever fascinated by boxes and lockets, Evans has been fabricating these jewelry objects since starting her metalsmithing career in 2006. After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in jewelry and metalsmithing from Millersville University, Pennsylvania, she pursued graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, earning her Master of Fine Arts in 2014.
“Kaitlyn has been a gallery associate here for the past three years,” said gallery owner Heidi Lowe. “I have always admired the thoughtfulness and skill sets used in her designs and am honored to host this exhibition.”
“Ways of Untangling” will remain on display through Sept. 1.
Continuing through December is “Earrings Galore,” a signature exhibition of innovative earrings created by national and international artists. Earrings vary in size, shape, material and concept. from traditional to avant-garde.
The gallery also offers a silver ring class from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays through August. In this introductory class, taught by Lowe, students learn the basic techniques of metalsmithing and create a sterling silver ring of their own that they can embellish to fit their own personal style.
