Bethany Blues’ Lewes location, 18385 Coastal Highway, is the official bar sponsor of the newly founded Delmarva Sport and Social Club.

Mike Cray approached the Lewes location — known for its social atmosphere — for a sponsorship of a new sport and social club. Cray started two other Sport and Social Clubs, one in Baltimore in 1998 and one in Annapolis in 2004. Cray’s friend Chad Day — the former owner of the Charlottesville Sports & Social Club — recently moved to the Rehoboth area, and met Cray through playing in the BSSC. The two spotted an opening for a new league.

Together, Day and Cray are founding the Delmarva Sport and Social Club, with Miller Light, Arnold Palmer Spiked and Terrapin Beer as official beverage sponsors. The club offers a noncompetitive atmosphere for adults to meet at Bethany Blues after games

The league will kick off its inaugural fall season with kickball and touch football. Teams are coed and are open to adults 21 and older.

Beginning Sept. 21, touch football will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays at Beacon Middle School, 19483 John J. Williams Highway, Lewes. Cost is $55.

Beginning Sept. 25, kickball will be held from 6:15 to 10:15 p.m. Wednesdays at the Rehoboth Beach Little League Fields, 19024 Holland Glade Road. Cost is $49.

Bethany Blues will serve as the home base and social space for the club members. Club membership have access to specials, and Bethany Blues will host the DELSSC kickoff happy hour from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 20, for kickball and touch football leagues.
