Nanticoke Health Services announced Leah Gulbransen was named Nurse of the Month for November.
Gulbransen began her career at Nanticoke in June of 2013 on the Progressive Care Unit. She worked on PCU less than two years and developed phenomenal nursing skills. Gulbransen applied and was selected for the position of labor and delivery nurse in February 2015. Right from orientation to unit, Gulbransen demonstrated a strong desire to learn and became an asset to the unit.
“Leah's passion tends to fall on the labor and triage side of the maternity unit where she acts as a patient's knight in shining armor during such a nerve-wracking time in their lives,” said one of Gulbransen’s coworkers. “She is an encourager, an advocate and a wonderful caregiver. She goes above and beyond for her patients every single shift and comes to work with a smile on her face and a positive attitude daily. She strives to make a difference in all of her patients' lives.”
Gulbransen grew up in Salisbury, Maryland, and attended Mardela Middle and High School. After graduating high school, she attended Salisbury University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She currently resides in Salisbury with her husband Jay, and their two-year-old red labrador, Lola. Gulbransen holds her family close to her heart and plays an active role in the lives of her niece and nephew. She also loves crocheting, and makes hats to give to the newborns on the unit. Gulbransen is also a world traveler.
