Cartoon Christmas Trio is sold out.

For many years, the music from classic holiday cartoons have received a jazzy makeover by the Cartoon Christmas Trio. This time the group will perform with special guest the Tatnall Lower School Children’s Choir.

The Cartoon Christmas Trio has performed jazzy renditions of tunes from favorites such as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty the Snowman" and many others.

Additionally, they’ve performed the soundtrack of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" in its entirety at shows.

The band, founded in 1995, has made live appearances on NBC, ABC and NPR.

The Cartoon Christmas Trio will deliver an animated concert at Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington at 7 p.m., Saturday. COST $10; free for ages 6 or younger. INFO delart.org or 571-9590.

2. What happens when a string band decides to play music inspired by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s beloved tunes from “The Nutcracker?”You end up with Front Porch Orchestra’s “Bluegrass Nutcracker.” 

In 2018, the Front Porch Orchestra released their full-length album,

“Bluegrass Nutcracker,” featuring 12 songs steeped in the holiday spirit with a twang.

3. The Smyrna Opera House, in partnership with the Town of Smyrna, is giving the community an early Christmas gift: a free screening of the film “The Polar Express.”

This holiday tale follows a young boy who doubts the existence of Santa Claus. On one Christmas Eve, the skeptical boy finds himself being invited by a conductor outside his home to ride on a magical train. Then things begin to get even more interesting.
