The Delaware Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, announced the closure of Records Pond Dam, between Delaware Avenue and U.S. 13, Laurel, will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. March 2, through spring 2021, for improvements to the dam.

The closure will include Willow Street across Records Pond Dam and all facilities located adjacent to the dam. These facilities include but are not limited to the boat ramp, pier, parking areas and pedestrian fishing points.

The improvements include rehabilitation of the dam, removal of trees, installation of sheet piles to reinforce the existing dam, installation of riprap to reduce further erosion, reconstruction of the roadway and two parking lots, installation of guardrail and aluminum railing and grading of the embankment.
