The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park will conduct their annual meeting at 9 a.m. March 7 at Youth Camp No. 3, also known as The Officers Club, in the park, 15099 Cape Henlopen Drive, Lewes.
The meeting brings Friends members together to reflect on their activities for the past year, welcome new Friends and elect members for any vacant board slot. The Friends encourage anyone interested in serving to email email@example.com or call 858-6127 to have their name included on the ballot.
This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome. There will be free coffee and donuts and time to mingle before the program. Friends’ volunteers will be selling merchandise, including Friends’ signature shirts and hats, and discussing their activities and volunteer opportunities for the coming year. Only members may vote for officers, but guests can join the Friends during the meeting.
The presentations will begin at 9:30 a.m. with an update on park activities by park staff, followed by a presentation by the guest speaker Nivette M. Perez-Perez. Perez-Perez is the communications specialist with the Center for Inland Bays. Originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, Perez-Perez completed her Bachelors of Science in coastal marine biology at the University of Puerto Rico in Humacao. She then went on to complete her Masters of Science in natural resources through Delaware State University as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center in Dover.
