The Delaware Women’s Alliance for Sports and Fitness Inc. awarded Sussex Academy senior Isabella Kwan the Dr. Michael J. Axe/First State Orthopedics College Scholarship.

The one-time, $500 scholarship is awarded annually to one northern and one southern Delaware high school senior athlete. The scholarship is made to a female graduating senior who has made a significant contribution to varsity athletics during her high school career.

Kwan’s athletic history at Sussex Academy includes lacrosse, field hockey and basketball.

As a member of the lacrosse team, Kwan’s honors include Academic All-Henlopen Conference 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20; a straight-A student during sport season, 2019-20; second team All Henlopen Conference, 2016-17; first team All Henlopen Conference, 2017-18, 2018-19; lacrosse varsity letter winner, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20; Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Student-Athlete Award, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20; and Sussex Academy Most Valuable Lacrosse Player, 2019.

In field hockey, her honors include Academic All Henlopen Conference, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20; field hockey varsity letter winner, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20; a member of the first field hockey team at Sussex Academy; and the DIAA Student-Athlete Award, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20.

In basketball, Kwan’s honors include Academic All Henlopen Conference, 2019-20; Honorable Mention-All Conference, 2019-20; basketball varsity letter winner, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20; and DIAA Student-Athlete Award, 2016-17, 2018-19, 2019-20.

Kwan is the daughter of Delbert and Lisa Kwan, Lewes. In February, she signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse at Occidental College.
