Sussex Central used a 22 point fourth quarter to run away from St. Thomas More and earn a 50-40 victory in the first round of the DIAA Girls Basketball State Tournament on Tuesday night.

The Lady Golden Knights trailed St. Thomas More by six after one quarter, but took the lead in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Ravens 15-6 to take a 19-16 lead into the halftime break.

St. Thomas More would cut the lead to just one after three quarters, but Sussex Central left little doubt about the outcome in the final stanza, outscoring St. Thomas More 22-13 to claim the 10 point victory.


Raeonna Stratton and Ambria Stratton both finished in double-figures, ending the game with 28 of the Lady Golden Knights 50 points.
