Route 24/John J. Williams Highway to close at Burton's Pond for soil borings

The Delaware Department of Transportation announced the closure of Route 24/John J. Williams Highway, between Hollymount Road and Robinsonville Road at Burton’s Pond, near Lewes, from 6 to 9 a.m. March 22, to place a barge in the pond.

The barge will be used for soil boring samples to be drilled to evaluate the geotechnical subgrade. The contractor for this work is Walton Corp.

Route 24 westbound detour route is a right on Robinsonville Road, left on Conleys Chapel Road, left onto Route 23/Beaver Dam Road, left on Hollymount Road and back to Route 24.

Route 24 eastbound detour route is left on Hollymount Road, right on Route 23/Beaver Dam Road, right on Conleys Chapel Road, and a right on to Robbinsville Road and return to Route 24.

Variable message boards will be posted to notify motorists of the upcoming road closure.
