The Milton Arts Guild announced the winners for its “Up and Coming” student show featuring work in graphite, watercolor and marker from 24 Cape Henlopen High School students in Jim Rubacks’ art classes.

MAG past president Anne Buck led an “Intro to Watercolor” class for the students, and Ruback guided students to their final works. He also instructed students to concentrate on extreme close ups of animals in graphite resulting in arresting imagery, and taught how simple colored markers could result in complex images in his art classes at the high school.

Award-winning artists and MAG members Barbara Coffin and Sandy Daly judged the exhibition, with cash awards and ribbons to the winners.

First place was awarded to Enijah Daisey for “Gilbert” in graphite; second place went to Noa Aboutboul for “Nagini” in graphite; and third place went to Kairos Dervaes for “Flowers” in watercolor.

Honorable mentions went to Ava Azoto for “Loud Boi” in graphite; Ferdinan Gomez for “Under the Water” in graphite; Mallory Lemin for “Close Up” in graphite; and Abby Betts for “November Rain” in marker.
