OCEAN CITY, Md. — The Ocean City BikeFest and Delmarva Bike Week, originally scheduled for late September, have both been postponed until 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to a statement from organizers.

"Due to COVID-19 and extensive discussions with the town of Ocean City and Worcester County Health Department, we have decided to postpone all activities to 2021," according to a press release.

The decision to cancel was "difficult," according to the news release, but it was required in order to keep the event safe for the community and the visitors who come from states across the Mid-Atlantic.

New information about the 2021 event will be released next week, according to the press release. Ticket holders for the 2020 event are also asked to "standby" until Aug. 5 for more information.

"This year, the uncertainty is too great to risk that trust and safety produce the quality events each of you have come to expect," according to the press release. "As mentioned, this decision has been very difficult, but when it comes to the safety of all those involved, we know it is the right decision."
