3 cool things to do around the state
1. The posh exhibit “Costuming The Crown" gives guests a behind-the-scenes look at 40 costumes from the acclaimed Emmy award-winning Netflix series “The Crown,” which offers a dramatized history of Queen Elizabeth II.
Guests will explore the elegance and style of a bygone era by examining the incredible contributions of Emmy and BAFTA-winning designers Michele Clapton and Jane Petrie for seasons one and two of “The Crown.”
You’ll discover how costumes play a major role in storytelling and character development in this fictional portrayal of the British royal family.
You can check out the “Costuming The Crown” exhibit at Winterthur, 5105 Kennett Pike, Winterthur from 10 to 5:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday. COST $22 adult; $20 senior and student; $6 child (age 2-11); free for infants (under age 2). INFOwinterthur.org or 888-4600.
2. A musical hurricane will sweep through SoDel this weekend named Kategory 5, according to the World Meteorological Organization.
Kategory 5 brings a mixed bag of tunes, varying from classic and progressive rock to pop from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
The group was the 102.9 WMGK house band from 2016-2017 and had the honor of opening for Joan Jett and Boston, and Taylor Dayne and Eddie Money.
Considering attention to detail is a staple of the group, you’d think every song they cover sounds like a tribute act of that band.
Boasting three and four-part harmonies with both male and female lead vocals, to layered guitars and keyboards -- the Newark-based Kategory 5 offers a dynamic quality to every show.
You can witness the hurricane yourself at Milton Theatre, 110 Union St., Milton at 8 p.m., Saturday. COST $20 to $25. INFOmiltontheatre.com or 684-3038.
